Job Responsibilities:1. Accomplished and well known expert in the field of refractory materials in China (Experience in steel industry eg. Steel industry in the field of MgO-C-bricks preferred).2. Ten to fifteen years of experience in refractories research and development work leading to real products in the field.3. MS Degree in a technical discipline; Ceramic Engineering or Material Science preferred.4. Excellent problem solver and analytical thinker. Strong process oriented work culture. Self-starter with excellent time management skills and entrepreneurial spirit. Relies on data to justify technical decisions. Must be tenacious and passionate about championing new concepts.5. Must be able to work within a collaborative team environment. Experience in managing small technical teams to deliver innovative solutions in the field of refractories. Excellent leadership skills and a lead by example attitude. Ability to develop collaborative networks among peers and cross functional teams quickly.6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.Qualifications/Requirements:1. Deliver the technology roadmap via successful new product launches and process technology development. Optimize raw material sourcing and utilization, recipes and production process in cooperation with global R&D team.2. Ensure and encourage the technical and career development of team members. Ensure the team delivers novel product and process technology ideas.3. Translate market trends, customer requirements and operational needs into refractory design requirements. Participate in customer visits to learn how we can add value for new and existing market opportunities. Push new product launches by supporting sales at the customer (product training, product presentations, tech days, etc.).4. Establishes and keeps contact with external research entities (eg. universities).5. Allocate resources most efficiently to projects and resolve conflicts/capacity bottlenecks.6. Set up a Project Management infrastructure and constantly monitor the project progress according to predefined KPI′ s.7. Drive the acquisition, installation, proper use and maintenance of all lab equipment.8. Support Global R&D and Product Development activities, by participating in idea generation sessions, and providing technical contributions.9. Ensure proper documentation of all stages of concept and product development. Evaluate and continuously improve documentation systems.10. Communicate progress to management via regular reports as required.11. Lead cross-functional product and process development projects. Participate on product and process development project teams.12. Frequent travel to customers, suppliers and manufacturing facilities expected.13. Participation at refractory shows expected.
